A Certificate of Adoption is an official document to be signed by the Judge when an adoption is finalized. This certificate will be required in order for a birth certificate to be issued for the adopted child through the Department of Vital Statistics. An adoption certificate helps prove the adoption has been finalized, which is needed for an international adoption in order for the child to become a citizen of their new home country.
